CORRAL HOLLOW SANITARY LANDFILL LFG MIGRATION MONITORING
Monitoring Completed: June 26, 2003
Landfill Location
The Corral Hollow Sanitary Landfill is located on Corral Hollow Road, approximately
five miles south of Tracy, California(Figure 1). The site is a Class III landfill which
stopped accepting waste in May 1995.
Monitoring System and Equipment
In accordance with closure regulations, a network of seven perimeter gas monitoring
wells was installed in 1995 (Figure 2).
The seven wells were monitored for methane on June 6, 2003, by SCS Field Services.
SCS used a Landtec GEM 500 Gas Extraction Monitoring Instrument which was
calibrated prior to sampling. The Landtec GEM 500 is capable of measuring methane,
carbon dioxide, oxygen, and nitrogen (balance gas) concentrations.
On June 26, 2003 the County directed SCS to clear any obstructions that might restrict
the flow of gas from the probe to the sampling port at locations 1 and 6 and resample
these probes. SCS indicated that during their investigation they did encounter some
resistance in GW1-M and GW6-D. The resistance was minor and did not persist. Upon
completion SCS determined that the probes were free of obstructions. Probes GW-1 and
GW-6 were resampled.
On August 8, 2003, county staff pressure tested the probes in question and determined
that the probes are satisfactory for measuring subsurface combustible gas. The results
were transmitted on August 8.
Corral Hollow Landfill September 15,2003
San Joaquin County 2 Quarterly LFG Monitoring
