Reactivity — Wastes that are unstable under normal conditions. Can cause explosions or release toxic <br />fumes, gases, or vapors when heated, compressed, or mixed with water. <br />Shall — An action that is not optional and must be followed for the purposes of this policy <br />Should — An action that is recommended as a best practice but may achieve the same result with a <br />method not explicitly mentioned in this policy. <br />Toxicity —Wastes that are harmful or fatal when ingested or absorbed (e.g., mercury, lead, DDT, Poly <br />Chlorinated Biphenyls (PCB's), etc.) <br />Universal Waste —For the purposes of this document Universal Waste shall mean: used batteries, <br />pesticides, mercury containing equipment (fluorescent tubes), and lamps. <br />ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES <br />The Store Manager is responsible for the implementation, oversight, and compliance with this policy. <br />The Store Manager shall ensure that: <br />• The waste station is properly stocked and inspected in accordance with this policy <br />• Waste is discarded in the proper receptacle according to its hazard class (Ignitable, Toxic, <br />Reactive, Corrosive) <br />• Container waste labels are filled in with complete and accurate information <br />• Waste pickup is scheduled prior to the accumulation time expiration date <br />• Waste disposal records are kept for the designated time in accordance with this policy, and; <br />• Store employees are trained on their role herein <br />Store employees are expected to: <br />• Recognize and report spills or anon -standard condition of the hazardous waste station to the <br />Store Manager <br />• Assist with the requirements in the policy as needed at the direction of the Store Manager <br />C� <br />
