Presently, CVWS is not formally accepting UWEDs, although
they are being removed during load check activities. CVWS is currently accepting CRT devices
including televisions and computer monitors for recycling. Due to this fact, the proposed sign language
has been modified as follows.
"The following Universal Wastes are not tt accepted for disposal:
. Common batteries (e.g. AA, AAA, C, and D cell batteries, button cell batteries)
. Fluorescent light tubes, bulbs, and other mercury containing lamps (e.g. high intensity discharge,
metal halide, sodium and neon bulbs)
. Electronic devices (e.g. computers, printers, VCRs, cell phones, telephones, radios, microwave
ovens, answering machines)
. Mercury containing devices (e.g. thermostats, switches, thermometers, gauges, novelty items)
These items must be recycled. Ask gate attendant for Universal Waste Handling information."
Please note that the sign will be modified again when CVWS finalizes its plan to formally accept
UWED. I will contact you to discuss further.
Thank you,
Chris Kennedy
Regional Environmental Manager
3/14/2006
