BEFORE THE BOARD OF SUPERVISORS OF THE COUNTY OF SAN JOAQUIN, <br /> STATE OF CALIFORNIA <br /> ORDINANCE NO. <br /> AN ORDINANCE AMENDING CHAPTER 9-830 AND RELATED SECTIONS OF <br /> TITLE 9 OF THE ORDINANCE CODE AS IT APPLIES TO <br /> ACCESSORY DWELLING UNITS <br /> The Board of Supervisors of the County of San Joaquin ordains as follows: <br /> SECTION 1. Section 9-110.4, Chapter 9-110, Division 1, Title 9 of the San Joaquin County <br /> Ordinance Code is hereby amended to add the underlined definitions as follows, to be <br /> inserted alphabetically: <br /> Accessory Dwelling Unit(also known as an"ADU") means an attached or a detached dwelling <br /> unit that provides living facilities for one or more persons and is located on a lot with a proposed <br /> or existing primary single-family dwelling. It includes permanent provisions for living sleeping, <br /> eating, cooking, and sanitation. An accessory dwelling unit also may be an efficiency unit, as <br /> provided for in Section 65852.22 of the California Government Code, and a manufactured home, <br /> as defined in Section 18007 of the California Health and Safety Code, so long as the standards of <br /> this Title are met. <br /> (1) "Attached ADU" means a new ADU is constructed as a physical expansion (i.e. <br /> addition,) of the primary dwelling that is attached to the Single Family Dwelling by <br /> one or more common walls. <br /> (2) "Converted ADU" means an ADU constructed within the interior of an Existing <br /> Structure that occupies part of the floor area of the Existing Structure. A Converted <br /> ADU does not include an ADU that would (a) increase the height of an Existing <br /> Structure; (b) require removal of more than 50 cubic yards of earth as part of the <br /> excavation of an Existing Structure; or (c) increase the floor area of the Existing <br /> Structure by more than 150 square feet beyond its existing physical dimensions for <br /> the purpose of accommodating ingress and egress. <br /> (3) "Detached ADU" means a new ADU that is located on the same lot as a Single <br /> Family Dwelling but does not share any walls with that dwelling_ <br /> (4) "Interior ADU" means an ADU that is contained entirely within an existingSingle <br /> ingle <br /> Family Dwelling.
