Box 1810, 1810 East Hazelton Avenue
Stockton, CA 95201
Attn: Tom Walker
Re: Compliance with Land Use Conditions for F & W Cattle Company #11,
19015 S. McKinley Avenue, Manteca
The Environmental Health Division (EHD) is currently in the hearing appeals stage for
the exemption of F &W Cattle Company#1 from a State Solid Waste Facilities Permit
(SWFP). Exemption is being sought for the land application of cannery waste (tomato
waste) as a soil amendment. The site was heard at a public hearing on September
24, 1992. The Public Health Services Solid Waste Hearing Panel granted this site an
exemption from a SWFP; however, the site would be required to be regulated by EHD
under an Environmental Health permit. The Panel's decision was appealed by thirteen
individuals residing in the area. Their appeals will be heard in early December by the
San Joaquin County Solid Waste Independent Hearing Panel.
EHD staff needs information on site history, specifically information as to whether or
not there has been compliance with all land use conditions imposed under excavation
permit EP 84-5 and any other conditional land use permits for the site. Due to time
considerations, the information is needed by December 1, 1992. We greatly
appreciate your staffs efforts in securing this information.
If you have any questions, please contact James Miller, Supervising Environmental
Health Specialist, at (209) 468-3436.
red iKaufman, rogram
Manager
Environmental ealth Division
FKIGO:lc
A Division of San Joaquin C-MY Health Care kmces 10
