The
intended area for the overburden is in the 300' setback area between the levee toe and the edge of the
excavation, which includes part of the known Disposal Site.
What is the intended time period that overburden would be stockpiled over the Disposal Site?
The storage of the soil overburden would need to be spread over the Site to a minimum depth of four feet. The
amount of soil overburden above four feet that is stockpiled on the dispsoal site would be an approved method
of storage. When overburden is removed, the EHD recommends that a minimum of four feet is to remain as
permanant cover over the Disposal Site.
The requirement for further action would be predicated on the risk the site poses to public health, safety or the
environment. If you excuted the landuse plan for the site then the EHD would require that the portion of the site to
be used as a quarry would require clean closure.
Per your request, this email correspondence will be followed by a hard-copy on letter-head for your records. If you
have any further questions, please contact Jenni Frase, REHS at(209) 468-9966.
Sincerely,
Robert McClellon, Program Coordinator REHS
San Joaquin County Environmental Health
1/8/2010
