record of their disposal. We are no longer allowed to add them to any steel being
taken into SMC for recycling.
5. Steel Recycling: As you know, retail sales generates tremendous amounts of old
steel from product resets and changes of displays. We can continue to recycle this
type of product at SMC, but moving forward, obtain and keep receipts for
evidence of proper disposal.
5. Spills and spillage: Please continue to fill out the Spill Logs located in the Waste
Management binder located in Brandon's office. We have now ordered and
placed on the floor multiple Spill Kits, use them. In addition to the five-gallon
Spill Kits, we still have the 35-gallon mondo spill kit located in the warehouse.
We have never had use of the mondo spill kit, but it is available in the event of
Iarge catastrophic spills. Follow all proper protocols for disposing of any material
used for cleaning up spills. If necessary, retain the cleaning materials for disposal
through Stericycle so that we have proper documentation.
7. Customer Waste: Due to the restrictions placed upon us by San Joaquin County
Public Health, we will NO LONGER be accepting any waste products turned in
by our customers unless it can be demonstrated that it was original purchased
through Fremont Plaza Ace Hardware. This includes used light bulbs, florescent
light tubes, any paints-latex or otherwise, batteries, oil, etc.
8. PAINT CA: We no longer participate in the paint recycling program offered by
the State of California because they failed to regularly pick up the paint we
collected from our customers leading to a citation by San Joaquin County. Advise
our customers they can dispose of their used paint at the airport recycling facility
for free. Any used paint must be recycled through Stericycle. Our"recycled"
paint vendor, Visions, is no longer accepting paint from us.
Respectfully,
William A. Stoermer
