The email listed the following information typically conducted as part of an
investigation of waste disposal sites:
"Historical Aerial Photographs for the site from 1960-1990.
*Request for information from Pilkington North America or Libby-Owens-Ford for all
files/reports/correspondence related to the disposal site
*Geophysical Survey based on the results of reviewing historical aerial photographs and
determining the maximum extent of operation
®Prepare a scaled topographic map (in AutoCAD or other engineering program) for the disposal
area (1 inch = 100 feet)
®Conduct a trenching investigation based on the geophysical survey boundary— collect data on
horizontal and vertical extent of waste, cover conditions and waste characteristics
®Collect 20-30 samples from the disposal area and analyze for CAM 17 Metals(TTLC&STLC),
Semivolatiles (8270), PCBs, PAHs, Dioxins and Furans
e Install single-depth probes within the waste area (machine slotted 0.5 inch diameter PVC
Pipe) and collect soil gas samples for analysis (ASTM 1946 Fixed Gas and T.O.45 (VOCs))
*Annotate the results of field testing on the top[o]graphic drawing to include: waste limits
(boundary), trenching&boring sample locations, soil vapor gas wells and analytical testing results.
The field data should be placed into a final investigation report that provides:
Topographic drawing/map of the site (with waste boundaries and sample locations),
Analytical testing results
Boring and trench logs
A volume estimate of waste in place and waste classification for disposal and cost estimate for
clean-closure;
A cost estimate to consolidate and cover the disposal site for long-term maintenance and
monitoring.
Discuss LEA/CalRecycle requirements for long-term inspections, maintenance and monitoring
and notification of property transfer and approval of post closure land-use development."
ro
c > 5salrl
AGE indicated that this letter was prepared at the request Mr. Dana G.
