M �G <br />PREIVIOUS WASTE DISPOSAL <br />During the investigation of the former PNA site, minor percentages of glass were <br />encountered in most of the trenches. A set of trenches at the southwest boundary of the <br />property demonstrated a differing thickness (topology) of the buried waste. Trenching logs <br />are included in Appendix B; while the cross section of buried waste is depicted in Figure 4. <br />Two waste cells of approximately 2,000 square feet of area each (30 to 35 feet north - <br />south to soil and 65-70 feet east -west) had demonstrated some waste glass and debris; <br />the southern cell was approximately eight feet deep and the northern cell was <br />approximately thirteen feet deep. The majority of the waste stream was comprised of steel <br />parts or window components (rusted), glass, and minor plastics. Excavations removed <br />the waste from the waste cells and adequately defined the horizontal and vertical extent <br />of the buried waste, on the property to the western boundary. Excavation was required to <br />a depth of 13 feet at some locations (north cell), through the use of an excavator <br />(removing the encountered waste) to reach native soil. The waste was transported from <br />the site to a Class II landfill in December 2015. Approximately 3,567 tons of waste glass, <br />minor garbage and cover soils were disposed. The waste glass/metal was loaded into <br />end dump trucks for transport to Forward Landfill under special waste manifest. A plastic <br />sheet barrier was installed at the western edge of the property boundary, prior to <br />backfilling native clean soil from the property area undisturbed by waste handling. <br />Additional waste was observed off the site to the west, on the property at 17200 Murphy <br />Parkway. <br />SCOPE OF WORK <br />The following scope of work was prepared in accordance with an email directive, dated <br />26 October 2017, from the San Joaquin County Environmental Health Department Local <br />Enforcement Agency (LEA). <br />Waste Handling Area <br />AGE proposes excavating trenches to re -sample and collect additional samples of the <br />glass cullet and waste in the flat, soil covered, waste handling area. The results of the <br />sampling will provide additional information to characterize and define the extent of waste <br />in this area of the property. AGE proposes to excavate up to six (6) trenches to six feet <br />below surface grade in the covered waste handling area (as the depth of waste was <br />already determined). The re -trenching of this area is to identify the exact limits of buried <br />glass waste (ends) and collect additional samples for waste characterization (Figures 2 <br />and 3). <br />
