Feedstock will be processed with two weeks of receipt. Fruit processing
remains will be processed immediately to avoid attracting files.
b. Processed material will be placed in windrows for composting.
c. Flies will be controlled with applications of insecticide such as Termidor, and
bait stations using granular bait such as Maxforce.
2. Pile Geometry
a. Ground material will be placed in a maximum of 50 windrows approximately
10 feet wide by 5 feet high by 300-350 feet long.
b. Processed Material will be stored in plies of approximately 50 feet diameter,
10 to 15 feet high.
3. Weather event impacts
The prevailing wind in the area is from N/NW, infrequently rising to 20 MPH,
Total rainfall is approximately 12 inches a year, from October to February. Fog is
not a consideration for processing operations.
Protocols to mitigate weather event impacts,
1. Stop all operations that may cause off-site odor
2. Determine if on-site management practices may remedy any odor
problems and immediately takes steps to remedy the situation.
3. Determine whether or not the odor Is travelling beyond the site by
patrolling the site perimeter. Operations would be suspended until the
wind and meteorological conditions are favorable and off-site odors will
not result.
4. Determine whether or not the odor has moved off-site. If so, Is It
significant enough to warrant contacting adjacent neighbors?
V. Site Details and Contingency Plans
1. Fire Prevention
Temperature monitoring — daily use of a thermometer probe
Fire prevention measures — daily temperature monitoring
A 2 -inch main water line will be run to the processing area
Fire district will have access to a 20 HP ag well
2. Water supply
Water for material processing and fire control will be drawn from the on-site well.
