SOIL SUITABILITY/NITRATE LOADING STUDY
FRENCH CAMP ELEMENTARY SCHOOL
241 FOURTH ST., APN 193-110-13
FRENCH CAMP, CALIFORNIA
This report includes the results of a Soil Suitability/Nitrate Loading Study for Manteca Unified School
District's(MUSD)French Camp Elementary School Modernization Project located at 241 Fourth Street in
French Camp, California(the Site). Figure 1 (Appendix A) presents a Vicinity Map of the Site, Figure 2
(Appendix A) presents a Site Map/Aerial Photograph, and Figure 3 (Appendix A) presents the Sanitary
Sewer Design.
1.0 SOIL SUITABILITY STUDY
1.1 INTRODUCTION
The Soil Suitability Study (SSS) was conducted to determine whether Site soils are suitable for expansion
of the septic system. The SSS was performed pursuant to requirements of Section 9-1105.2(d) of the San
Joaquin County Development code and has been prepared to meet the requirements of the San Joaquin
County Health Department's (EHD's) Soil Suitability Study Requirement Checklist (dated 9/25/07). A
major element of the field work included conducting percolation tests that meet absorption rates as specified
by EHD. A review of published soil information, geologic maps, and available groundwater information
was also conducted.
1.1.1 Description of Site, Including Zone Information
The French Camp Elementary School property is located in the northern San Joaquin Valley approximately
8 miles northwest of Manteca. The school property consists of 14 contiguous parcels totaling 13.46 acres.
The school site is generally rectangular in shape and surrounded by mixed agriculture and rural residential
development. The Site elevation is approximately 16 feet above mean sea level and the land is relatively
flat(less than 2 percent slope). The topographic gradient slopes gently west toward the San Joaquin River
approximately 3 miles away. A map showing the contiguous parcels is included as Figure 4 in Appendix
A.
1.1.2 Description of Proposed Development
The preliminary design for the proposed project will include a new multi-purpose building of 11,300 square
feet with 8 classrooms, learning commons, student and staff restrooms, and an additional septic system. An
aerial photograph showing Site features and the proposed layout for the French Camp Elementary School
new building locations and septic system are presented on Figures 2 and 3, Appendix A.
1.1.3 Parcel Vicinity Location Map
See Figure 4,Appendix A.
1.1.4 Site Map Showing Location of All Items on Parcels (i.e., Structures, Drives, Wells, Septic
Systems, Large Trees,Pastures,Pools,Natural Drainage Courses, Ponds,Waterways, Etc.)
See Figure 2 and 3, Appendix A.
;1?
