Soil Suitability Nitrate Loading Study
Manteca Unified School District
2414'Street,French Camp,CA
Page 2
1.2 PRESENT AND PAST USES OF THE SITE
Condor reviewed the USGS Manteca Quadrangle Map and historical aerial photographs provided by San
Joaquin County Surveyors Office to assess land use in the general area from 1937 to 1975. GoogleEarthTM
aerial photographs were reviewed for years 1993-2017 for more recent information. Based on historical
information, the area surrounding the site has been primarily agricultural with rural housing developments
prior to 1967.
The Site currently consists of French Camp Elementary School. The school was originally built in 1852
and later rebuilt in 1967. An administration building, library, multipurpose room, and several classrooms
have been added or removed over the years for a total of 36 classrooms. Copies of historical aerial
photographs are included in Appendix B.
1.3 EXISTING AND PROPOSED SEPTIC TANK USAGE
1.3.1 Existing On-Site Septic Tank Usage
Condor Earth performed a search of the EHD website for records pertaining to existing septic tanks and
found references to two existing septic tanks onsite. According to historical permits, a functioning
3,800-gallon septic tank was installed in the western portion of property east of the library in December
1996, and a 4,000-gallon septic tank was installed in the north portion of the property north of the library
in May 2010.
1.3.2 Site Septic Permit History
Table 1
Site Septic Permit Histoir7yfor Address 241 Fourth St. French Camp,CA
Leach
Tank Size Leach Line Seepage
Date Permit# Type Line Pits/Sumps
(Gallons) Quantity Length Quantity/Size
(Feet)
--- --- Shown on SR0011256 Unknown 4? Permit#SR0011256 shows a record of the tank replacement.
1.3.4 Existing Septic Tank Usage in The General Area
To assess septic system density for the vicinity of the Site, Google Maps aerial photos were reviewed to
gauge the number of residencies and agricultural land use. Based on over 70 buildings/residencies within
0.5 miles of the site it's assumed that at least each building has one septic system. Refer to section 1.3.5 for
description of septic tanks in the general area.
Nt4
i CONDOR
