Alaniz, John [EHD]
From: Hayden Lee <haydenlee@whfinc.com>
Sent: Wednesday, August 12, 2020 11:02 AM
To: Alaniz,John [EHD]
Cc: Thomas Robinson; Manzo, Elena K. [EHD]; karicasey; Gaitan,Jason [EHD]
Subject: Re: San Joaquin County Notice to Abate
CAUTION:This email is originated from outside of the organization. Do not click links or open attachments unless you recognize the
sender and know the content is safe.
Good Morning John,
As we discussed on the phone certain parameters were not available for analysis at our local lab and had to be
sent out to multiple outside labs in order to test the specific compounds listed on the SDS sheets. We chose to
run the TEPH to capture the Mineral oil and the SVOC panel which captured at least one of the pesticides that
were listed on the SDS sheet. We chose these parameters as indicators since the Mineral Oil was used in the
highest concentration within the pesticide mixture and because there was not enough sample available to send
out to multiple labs. Our thought process was, depending on the levels identified in these samples, if we saw
high levels of mineral oil or any presence of SVOCs we could collect additional samples (and target more
specific sampling locations and depths) and send out as necessary.
If you have any questions please let me know. We can be available for a conference call if needed to determine
the best path forward.
Thank you,
Hayden
On Tue, Aug 11, 2020 at 4:17 PM Alaniz, John [EHD] <ialanizIAsj og v.org> wrote:
Hi Hayden,
I reviewed the results and there were concerns with the tests used. Some of the pesticides in the mix-such as the Zara
WSB Miticide (etoxazole)-were not seen in the list of chemicals tested. Per our phone conversation, you explained that
the chemicals tested would indicate if there was the presence of a pesticide that did not have a specific test. Please
provide an explanation detailing how the pesticides that did not have a specific test were tested and how that chemical
tested was determined to be appropriate for the specific pesticides.
Thank You,
John Alaniz
1
