Hazelton Ave. <br /> Stockton, CA 95201 <br /> RE: Corral Hollow Sanitary Landfill Proposed Phase 2 Work as Part of <br /> Corrective Action. <br /> This letter is regarding the above cited document that was submitted to the Environmental <br /> Health Department(EHD) on April 5, 2005. The EHD has reviewed the document and <br /> has the following comments: <br /> 1. Plan indicates that the potholes will be repaired either with bentonite amended <br /> soil or by placing geo-composite clay liner(GCL) prior to replacing with <br /> excavated soil. Revise plan to include an information to assure that bentonite- <br /> amended soil has a minimum of 1 x 10-6 cm/sec protection. EHD does not <br /> encourage the use of GCL to fill the potholes. <br /> 2. Plan indicates that work will be done in accordance with previously approved <br /> safety pian. Provide updated safety plan to include site factors for this specific <br /> project(i.e.: list of heavy equipment to be used and safety measure taken <br /> around heavy equipment). <br /> 3. Plan does not describe details of corrective action including: <br /> a. An estimate of amount of volume of soil and source of soil used for <br /> cover/vegetative layer. <br /> b. An estimated amount of GCL to be used for cover, how the GCL will <br /> be rolled out and positioned, and how GCL will be overlapped and/or <br /> seamed together. Amount of overlap distance is not provided. <br /> c. List of equipment to be used in the project. <br /> Revise plan to include those details. <br /> 4. Figure 6 indicates a gap between the proposed GCL and new drainage ditch. <br /> Revise plan to extend the GCL liner up to the new drainage ditch. <br />
