• Hand-washing—promote regular and thorough handwashing with soap and water throughout the
day. At a minimum, utilize hand sanitizer frequently when a water source is not readily available,
then wash hands as soon as possible;
• Coughing/sneezing—coveryour cough or sneeze with your elbow or a tissue to prevent the spread
of germs; immediately dispose of the tissue in the trash;
• Travel—utilize personal/company vehicles for mobilization and spend free time in your own home
when possible. Avoid long distance travel in vehicles with others when possible, but if traveling
with others in the same vehicle utilize Lysol products or other disinfectants to clean company field
vehicles, rental vehicles and hotel rooms prior to use and periodically thereafter;
• Critically assess with clients the need for travel and the potential for alternatives to face-to-face
meetings, such as schedule changes and virtual meetings. When in-person meetings are deemed
critical,employ social distancing and inform employees that they have the authority to stop work
if they suspect a risk to the health or safety of participants;
• Personal wellness — Spend extra effort to stay well (e.g., eat healthy, get sufficient rest) to
maintain a strong immune system;
• Suspected illness — if feeling unwell or showing signs/symptoms of COVID-19 (fever, cough,
muscle aches/pains, gastrointestinal distress and shortness of breath) immediately isolate from
other site personnel, contact the project manager and seek medical care from your own doctor
or health care provider. Seek to leave the site as soon as possible and follow Geosyntec guidance
(also see follow-up site measures below);
• Project managers should discuss with Human Resources and H&S Manager if an employee reports
illness symptoms. Refer to company guidance on follow-up, isolation of other potentially exposed
individuals and return to work policies;
• If field work requires employees to enter residences or health care facilities,try to postpone work
or contact a H&S Manager to discuss enhanced personal protection measures.
Forjob sites where we are on site but which are under the control of another organization, obtain a copy
of any relevant COVID-19 exposure control requirements and ensure we are able to fully comply. H&S can
assist in evaluating such plans as needed.
Here are some additional resources to provide to employees and post in field office locations
• Florida Department of Health -COVID-19 Protect Yourself in Gatherings &Crowds poster
• COVID-19 Factsheet
• Keep Calm and Wash Your Hands
• Wash Your Hands!
• Know the facts about coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) and help stop the spread of rumors
