Identified Contamination Source
A natural gas pipeline crosses the
Site, and a second pipeline runs
along the eastern side of the Site.
The pipelines are operated by Lodi
Gas Storage. (Current on-site)
Seven facilities within one-quarter
mile of the Site were identified on
the San Joaquin County
Environmental Health Department's
lists of hazardous materials,
hazardous waste, and fuel tank
sites. (Current and past off-site)
A total of 13 pole-mounted
transformers were observed on the
Site. Five of these were marked
with stickers indicating they are
free of polychlorinated biphenyls.
(Current on-site)
Of 11 wells within a one-mile
radius of the Site tested for DBCP,
DBCP was detected in four at
concentrations between 0.01 and
0.2 [Ag/L, in two at concentrations
over 0.2 !AWL, and was not
detected in the other five wells.
The Maximum Contaminant Level
(MCL) set by the US EPA for DBCP
is 0.2 lig/L. (Current off-site)
Evaluation
The Office of Pipeline Safety, within
the U.S. Department of
Transportation, Pipeline and
Hazardous Materials Safety
Administration, has regulatory
responsibility for gas pipelines under
its jurisdiction.
No evidence was identified to
suggest that these facilities have
impacted the subject Site.
The utility provider may have
additional information about PCB
content of the transformers.
Levels of DBCP in ground water
exceed the MCL in some nearby
wells.
9.0 RECOMMENDATONS
This report should be seen as a screening tool to identify areas where hazardous
substances may be present on the Site. As part of the land use application
process, the San Joaquin County Environmental Health Department may
recommend that certain actions be taken in response to conditions identified.
Additionally, any conditions out of compliance with local, State, or Federal
regulations should be brought into compliance; it is outside the scope of work of
the Surface and Subsurface Contamination Report to identify these conditions.
LOGE 20-61 12
