PHS/EHD has the following comments for your consideration.
Groundwater contamination continues to be evidenced in samples collected from MW2, MW3, and MW4.
RESNA requested that the sampling frequency of MW1 be reduced to annually and MW5 and MW6 be
reduced to semi-annually. PHS/EHD grants the reduction in sampling frequency since these wells
historically have either detected slight or no contamination. Quarterly monitoring of MW2, MW3, and
MW4 should continue
Residual soil contamination provides a source of contamination to groundwater. The levels of
contamination have fluctuated with changes in the depth to groundwater. A work plan dated July 22, 1992
was submitted to perform limited excavation which would reduce the source of further groundwater
contamination. PHS/EHD approved the work plan in correspondence dated August 17, 1992. In order to
remain in compliance with PHS/EHD directives, the work outlined in the approved work plan must be
performed by July 22, 1994.
If you have any questions or wish to schedule a site inspection, please contact Mary Meays, Senior REHS,
of my staff at (209) 468-0337.
Jogi Khanna, M.D., M.P.H.
Health Officer
Donna Heran, REHS, Program Manager
Environmental Health Division
DH/MM/GARDNER
c: Elizabeth Thayer, CVRWQCB
c: John Lane, RESNA
c: Al Hoslett, Wilson, Hoslett and Whitridge
c: Ron Rail, SJCUMD
A Division of San Joaquin County Health (ire Services
