Construction Quality Assurance( )Plan Extension of Closure Cap <br /> Corral Hollow Sanitary Landfill August 21,2008 <br /> ♦ Geosynthetic Research Institute (GRI) <br /> '.5 Definitions <br /> Whenever the abbreviations and terms listed below are used the intent and meaning <br /> shall be interpreted as indicated: <br /> AASHTO —American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials. <br /> AISC —American Institute of Steel Construction. <br /> ASTM —American Society for Testing and Materials. <br /> Construction Manager — The individual or firm responsible for administering the <br /> construction contract and providing overall construction management for the project. <br /> The construction manager is the primary contact on the project site and will be a <br /> representative of the owner. <br /> Construction Quality Assurance—A planned and systematic pattern of procedures <br /> and documentation designed to provide confidence that items of work or services meet <br /> the requirements of the contract documents. Construction quality assurance includes <br /> verifying that the Contractor is performing the quality control requirements described <br /> within the specifications. <br /> CQA Manager —Authorized representative of the CQA organization responsible for <br /> managing the CQA program. <br /> CQA Monitors—Authorized representative of the CQA organization, responsible for <br /> observing and documenting activities related to CQA during construction. <br /> CQA Officer —Authorized representative of the CQA organization and professional <br /> engineer or engineering geologist responsible for certifying that construction was <br /> performed in accordance with the intent of the contract documents and design. <br /> CQA Organization — Organization responsible for implementing the CQA Plan. <br /> Construction Quality Control — Those actions which provide a means to measure <br /> and regulate the characteristics of an item or service to comply with the requirements <br /> of the contract documents. Quality control will be performed by the Contractor, except <br /> where designated in the specifications. <br /> Contract Drawings — The official plans, profiles, typical cross-sections, elevations, <br /> and details, as well as their amendments and supplemental drawings,which show the <br /> locations, character, dimensions, and details of the work to be performed.
