es F. Durkin, Gig
or Hydrogeologist
JAMES F. MAKI
759
CERTIFIED
HYDROGEOLOGIST
Exp. 2f28/2011
The wells and piezometers will be destroyed under permit and in accordance with San Joaquin
County Environmental Health Department requirements. An inspector will be onsite to
observe and record proper abandonment. A truck-mounted drill will be mobilized to the site
and wells will be pressure grouted in place with a volume of neat cement equal to at least 110%
of the well casing volume. With the exception of P-179, the piezometers were installed by
hydraulically pushing the casing. Therefore, pressure grouting through the screen may not be
effective in completely sealing these boreholes. For this reason, the casings of these piezometers
will be extracted by the drill rig and the open hole will be tremie grouted. Because these wells
have not yielded evidence of anthropogenic ground water impacts in this area, displaced water
will not be contained.
With the exception of P-102, which was damaged and buried, water levels and total well depth
measurements were collected from each of the wells and piezometers in February 2011 (Table
1). An excavator will be mobilized to uncover Piezometer P-102 to ensure proper
abandonment. Each well casing that is not removed will be terminated below ground surface
and capped with a neat cement plug.
Work is expected to begin in early April 2011, with initial site preparation following in May or
June. Please don't hesitate to call if you have any additional questions regarding this Work Plan
Sincerely,
ENVIRO MENTAL RISK SERVICES CORPORATION
k O'Brien
CEO, ERS Corp
Cc: Jeff Wingfield, Port of Stockton
Tyson Fulmer, ERS Corp
Attachments:
Figure 1: Overview Map
Table 1: Maritime Laydown Site Wells/Piezometers
Appendix A: Well Construction Logs
"14 r C
