Marlowe Page 2
12/21/92 Monitoring well, MW2 was installed to continue the investigation of
groundwater contamination. MW1 which had been installed in 1988f no
longer contained groundwater in which to sample. The total dept of MW1
was 80 feet and screened between 40' and 80'. Contamination, 13 ppm
volatile compounds and a slight odor, were noted during the installation of
MW2 at 95', just below water. MW2 was drilled to a total depth of 110' and
screened between 109.5' and 79.5'.
01/08/93 MW2 was sampled this date. The results of sampling were included in the
"Monitoring Well Installation Report, December 1992" which PHS/EHD
received February 9, 1993. Groundwater contaminants were detected:
Contaminant Concentration (ppb)
Benzene 1.0
TPH-gas (not typical pattern) 83.0
1,1-Dichloroethene (1,1-DCE) 120.0
Dichloromethane (Methylene Chloride) 0.62
t-1,2-Dichloroethene (t-1,2-DCE) 0.12
1,1-Dichloroethane (1,1-DCA) 3.7
Chloroform 0.15
1,1,1 Trichloroethane (1,1,1-TCA) 16
Trichloroethene (TCE) 36
c-1,2-Dichloroethene (c-1,2-DCE) 0.78
WEST results, Attachment 3.
03/02/93 PHS/EHD requested that the non-community water well be resampled and
analyzed along with the monitoring well to confirm that the drinking water
well has not been impacted by the contaminants detected in the monitoring
well sample collected January 8, 1993.
04/08/93 MW2 was sampled this date as part of the quarterly monitoring requirement.
The on site non-community water well was also sampled and analyzed for
chlorinated hydrocarbons as was requested by PHS/EHD due to contaminants
which were detected in the January 8, 1993 sample results; contaminants
detected. FGL results, Attachment 4.
04/30/93 Marlowe notifies tenants not to drink the on site water and provides bottled
water. (Exhibit #1)
05/04/93 The on site non-community water well was resampled and analyzed for
chlorinated hydrocarbons as a result of analytical results from April 8, 1993;
contaminants detected. WEST results, Attachment 5.
