Box 193965 <br />San Francisco, CA 94119-3965 <br />OBSERVATIONS MADE BY: Subbu Mahadevan DATE: April 6, 1995 <br />FACILITY REPRESENTATIVE(S) and iTILE(S): <br />Jonathan Marlowe, Property Manager <br />SITE: Marlowe Property <br />EPA ID: CAO 001009760 <br />A site reconnaissance was conducted at the Marlowe Property (Marlowe) site on April 5, 1995. <br />The weather was sunny and the temperature was approximately 75°F. Bechtel Environmental, <br />Inc. (BEI) representative Subbu Mahadevan conducted the site reconnaissance with Jonathan <br />Marlowe at 1:30 p.m. to gather information on the site location and size, site history, processes <br />used, and any hazardous waste generated, treated, stored, or disposed of on site. The <br />reconnaissance included a site tour during which photographs were taken. <br />The following information was obtained during the site reconnaissance: <br />The Marlowe site is located in an industrial area of Stockton, Calif. The site is bordered on the <br />north by Waterloo Road, on the east and south predominantly by open fields, and on the west by <br />open fields and the California Cedar Products facility. <br />Prior to 1966, the site was vacant land. The property was originally owned and developed by <br />Ronald and Mamie Grimes in 1966. The Grimes' sold the property to James Hunter in <br />approximately 1977. Melvin Marlowe, the current owner, purchased the property from James <br />Hunter in 1979 and has owned it since that time. <br />The approximately 9-acre site contains numerous warehouse buildings and offices. The northern <br />portion of the site contains three empty buildings; three MPI buildings (a manufacturing facility, an <br />office, and a supplies storage building); a furniture storage building; and an Otis Elevator office <br />building. The central portion of the site contains: three empty buildings; five buildings occupied by <br />Lambert's Dental Instruments, A-1 Flooring, G&J Allen Electric Inc., Sweets Tinware, and <br />Precision Painting; two supplies storage buildings; and a used cars storage building. The southern <br />portion of the site contains five buildings occupied by Boyd & Boyd, Natural Concrete Company, <br />Pacific Woodwork, Iron Works, and Pioneer Pallet; and a residence located inside a fenced area. <br />A majority of the site is paved and the entire site is either surrounded by a fence or a wall. <br />PA Marlowe Property-SS • 6/95 <br /> E-1 <br />Printed on 50% recycled paper.
