Groundwater in the vicinity of the site is contaminated
with haL9gsneajed volatile orar tgo ic compounds (HVOCs). The EHD has been actively involved
with thr&O'A tiiirka`wVer contamin
,i
ation problem in the area. Laboratory analyses of groundwater
sample‘Colleteted from three domestic drinking water wells screened in a shallow aquifer have
indicated the presence of HVOCs. One of the domestic wells, that served approximately 45
people, has been closed due to HVOC contamination. The other two domestic wells, that serve
approximately 6 people each, are still operating. The municipal drinking water wells in the
vicinity of the site are screened in a deeper aquifer. The shallow aquifer and the deeper aquifer
are interconnected in the vicinity of the site.
fnct•I
It appears that the HVOCs detected in the domestic wells ar-e attributable to the Marlowe Property
site. (9 rn addition, the California Cedar Products Laboratory Division, located adjacent to whtz.k'N Marlowe Property, generates hazardous substances that contain HVOCs Jonathan Marlowe, the
property manager, can be reached at (415) 457-1629. cuAd. tz_in rzpo r-i-ek-1.
