PRE-TANK REPLACEMENT Site Assessment Work Plan <br />4315 Waterloo Road Stockton, CA. <br />Aegis Project No. 89-047 <br />Page 3 <br />Classify the recovered soil samples according to the Unified Soil <br />Classification System. <br />Screen the recovered soil samples for the presence of organic <br />vapors with a photoionization detector according to methods <br />described in section 4.0. <br />Based on the results of classification and screening, submit one <br />or more soil samples from each boring to a state-certified- <br />laboratory to be analyzed for petroleum constituents. <br />Prepare a factual report presenting assessment results including <br />recommendations regarding the need for further action. <br />2.0 BACKGROUND INFORMATION <br />2.1 Site Location <br />The site is located 550 feet east of the intersection of State Highway <br />99/50 on Waterloo Road in Stockton, San Joaquin County, California, <br />(Figure 1). The site lies within a light industrial, rural area in <br />eastern Stockton. The San Joaquin County assessor's parcel number for <br />the site is 087-10-34. <br />2.2 Site Description <br />The Site is currently occupied by an operational Shell service <br />station. The site consists of two canopy covered pump islands, and a <br />Shell Mini Mart (Figure 2). The pump islands are located on the <br />central section of the site. The building is located on the northern <br />border of the site. Four underground fuel storage tanks are located <br />on the western side of the site. The land surfaces of the site are <br />paved and flat lying. <br />2.3 Adjacent Land Uses <br />The site is bordered to the north and west by a motel (The Stockton <br />Inn) to the east by a restaurant (Taco Bell) and to the south, across <br />Waterloo Road a service station/restaurant. The land surfaces of the <br />adjacent lots are predominately flat (Figure 3).
