Hazelton
Stockton, CA 9525
Subject: Sampling and analysis of monitoring wells at the Harney
Lane Sanitary Landfill, Lodi, California .
Dear Mr . Urkhart:
On January 3, 1989, California Water Labs (CWL 's ) Field Support
Services group sampled monitoring wells for County of San Joaquin
Public Works at the Harney Lane Landfill in Lodi, California .
Two of four monitoring wells were sampled that day (MW-3 and MW-
4 ) , the first and second wells (MW-1 and MW-2) had previously
been sampled on November 8, 1988 . During the previous sampling
event wells 3 & 4 were found to be dry.
The water levels of all four wells were obtained but only MW-3
and MW-4 were sampled that day. Groundwater elevations were
determined using water-level measurements from field data and
USGS Datum of well casing elevations provided by County of San
Joaquin Public Works .
Examples of the calculations made are provided in Table I .
TABLE I
Calculation of Groundwater Elevations
Elevation to Depth of Water Groundwater
Top of Casing From Top of Elevation
Well r LD. jUSGS Datum) ft .
