Board of Supervisors September 29 , 1983
CLOSURE OF SEWER POND AT HARNEY LANE SITE Page Two
Discussions have been held in the past with representatives of the
Housing Authority to loop the system, however, it was not con-
sidered financially practical for the Housing Authority to expend
the funds ( estimated at $2 ,500 two years ago) because it was the
intention at that time the camp would be torn down in the imme-
diate future. Since this now does not appear to be the case,
this problem should now be resolved.
THEREFORE, IT IS RECOMMENDED :
1 . That effective November 1 , 1983 , the Board of
Supervisors prohibit the dumping of septage by commer-
cial pumpers at the Harney Lane landfill, and
2. That the Department of Public Works be directed to
notify all registered septage haulers by mail that
septage will no longer be accepted at the Harney Lane
landfill , and
3 . That the Department of Public Works be directed to
post, as soon as possible, a conspicuous sign at the
entrance of the landfill stating that septage will no
longer be accepted effective November 1, 1983 , and
4. That the Board of Supervisors allow the San Joaquin
County Housing Authority the use of Migrant Labor Camp
No. 1 on Mathews Road, through the 1984-85 season, and
5 . That the Department of Public Works be directed to
negotiate with the Housing Authority the feasibility of
extending the' water service line from Labor Camp No. 1
to the main line of the Southern Water System on
Mathews Road.
Very truly yours,
DAVID D .
