J. H. KLEINFELDER & ASSOCIATES
File: 5-1008-21/12 :337
Revised: July 8, 1986 -
Page 3
o Well No. 4 -- Lee Hall well located immediately south
of Harney Lane Landfill. As noted above,
this well is now owned by San Joaquin
County.
The locations of these wells are shown on Plate A.
Available information on the wells indicates that the Sawyer well
is approximately 243 feet deep, and is cased down to 150 feet;
the Labor .Camp well is approximately 320 feet deep, and is cased
down to 164 feet ; the Hall well is approximately 233 feet deep,
and is cased to 180 feet . Water levels in the wells have been in
the range of -15 to -36 feet ( from mean sea level) . Plate B
shows the approximate ground water surface elevations in August
of 1985 .
MONITORING OBJECTIVES
The ground water monitoring objectives at the Harney Lane
Landfill are to comply with the Subchapter 15 and Regional Water
Quality Control board (RWQCB) requirements, and to provide a long
term ground water monitoring program. The ground water
monitoring plan presented in this report is designed to meet
these objectives.
Subchapter 15 contains specific instructions for monitoring
well construction. The existing four wells previously used for
monitoring since 1980 do not comply with the current RWQCB
requirements. " For one reason, well logs indicate solid casing
was used to 50 to 80 feet below the ground water table. It also
appears that slotted or screened casing may not have been used.
Current regulations require that slotted casing span the first
ground water table. The dual function of domestic wells has also
been discouraged by the State.
LOCATION AND INSTALLATION OF MONITORING FACILITIES
Plate A shows the preliminary locations selected for four
monitoring points. These locations and number of monitoring
locations were selected based on regional hydrogeologic
information and data collected from the four wells currently
being monitored. The proposed locations of the wells are
preliminary and may change if additional field information does
not coincide with previous information.
