CAC SECTION OBSERVATIONS RESULT
17704 Leachate I did not observe surface leachate on I
Control. site. Steve Salzman of the Regional
Water Quality Control Board (RWQCB)
advised me by phone of the following: -
monitoring wells that were tested in
the past do not meet Calderon
requirements, drilling of new wells is
to commense in a couple of months;
a water monitoring system has been
submitted and approved by the RWQCB,
the county is currently looking for a
contractor to complete this work; this
site has a Calderon Priority Ranking
of Four.
When new wells have been completed and
tested, future inspectors will need to
review RWQCB findings to determine
compliance to this section.
17705 Gas Control. There were structures or agricultural C
® lands outside of the four site
perimeters. I tested for methane at
each perimeter with a Gas-Tech, Model
NP-204, and a bar hole punch. I
detected nothing.
Note: A migrant labor housing project
was being constructed just outside the
northwestern boundary of the site.
The houses were designed and
construced to circumvent methane -
accumulation. The house foundation
consists of a gravel bed topped with
plastic liner and concrete flooring.
There are vents leading from the
gravel bed and out the roof of the house.
Methane was detected at this perimeter
by a private contractor in September
1984. I performed seven methane gas
tests along the housing border and
detected nothing. (See slides I. 26,
I.27, I. 38, I .39) .
17706 Dust Control. This site was not dusty.
