Cypher, Maintenance Superintendent 7
SUBJECT: STATE SOLID WASTE MANAGEMENT FACILITY PERMIT
Attached is a revised report of disposal site information.
The page titled "Harney Lane Landfill, " paragraph 1, has been
revised to a more correct definition of the method of operation.
Harney Lane Landfill was originally developed by the City of
Lodi. Initially this area (encompassed by Jack Tone, Harney Lane,
Tully and Tokay Colony) was undulating pasture land and has since
been leveled and irrigation established. Therefore, the elevation
of the landfill is not representative of the original terrain.
The method of operating the landfill was established 15 years
ago and is a combination of trench and ramp method which is generally
referred to as "cut and cover" operation.µ This operation consists
of excavating wide trenches ( 35 feet in depth) , utilizing the
excavated material to develop cells daily, and for final cover. The
life of the landfill is calculated on balancing the excavated dirt
with the required material for cell and final cover over the refuse.
An additional memorandum will be forthcoming covering the
general topics discussed at our last meeting.
WLC:cz
HENRY M.
