The probes will consist of 1/211 schedule 40 PVC pipe. <br /> Approximately the bottom five feet of each monitoring probe will <br /> consist of a perforated probe tip. Each probe tip will be <br /> surrounded by clean pea gravel. A 5 foot bentonite seal will be <br /> placed between monitoring zones (figure 4) . A 1/811 vinyl tube will <br /> be inserted in each probe and will extend to the beginning of the <br /> perforated probe tip. This vinyl tube will be used to collect <br /> samples. Each well will be equipped with a vault box and locking <br /> cover at the surface. <br /> V. MONITORING AND REPORTING <br /> Monitoring will be performed in accordance with the CIWMB's <br /> regulations for closure and postclosure. Methane will be monitored <br /> monthly for the first six months. The frequency will be reduced <br /> to quarterly after six months and will continue on a quarterly <br /> basis throughout the postclosure period. Monitoring frequency and <br /> parameters being tested may be increased as necessary or as <br /> directed by the Local Enforcement Agency or the CIWMB. <br /> 7 <br />
