<br /> Geo-Probe soil boring rig will be used to advance the soil gas probe to a depth of five feet.
<br /> Upon sealing the probe tube and waiting for the subsurface to equilibrate for 20 to 30
<br /> minutes, the protective sheath will be retracted and the soil vapor will be drawn into the
<br /> sample container. The sample container will consist of a 0.25-liter Summa canister provided
<br /> by the analytical laboratory.
<br /> The sample points will be designated by Tank Site Number (i.e. 1, 2 or 4), the boring number
<br /> at each tank site (1, 2, 3, or 4), and sample depth. A typical sample might be identified as
<br /> TS2-B3-4. This would indicate Tank site 2, boring number 3, from a depth of 4 feet. The
<br /> following table identifies the expected soil gas samples.

<br /> 2.1.1.2 Targeted Shallow Soil Sample Points
<br /> A suite of targeted shallow samples will be collected at specific areas around the site as
<br /> identified in Sections 1.4 and 1.5 above. The sample points are selected at those points
<br /> deemed most likely to have been impacted by a possible past release. The site maps and the
<br /> text tables below summarize the anticipated samples and their designations. As shown on the
<br /> detailed site maps (Figures 3, 4 & 6), a total of 117 targeted shallow soil sample points have
<br /> been selected as follows:

<br /> One sample point will be collected for each 100 linear feet of right of way(46 sample points).
<br /> The sample points are shown on Figure 3. Two discrete samples will be collected from each
<br /> point. The shallow sample will be collected from a depth of 0 to 1 feet and the deep sample
<br /> will be from 1 to 2 feet below the surface. The sample pairs will be used to gather
<br /> information regarding the vertical distribution of any contaminants that may be identified.
