Work Plan—Site Sampling Page 9
West Weber Site-Stockton
GPE Project 536.2
Stockton Cold Storage Shop
A group of authoritatively selected samples will be collected from six points in the vicinity of
the shop buildings at Stockton Cold Storage. The sample points will be on the south side of
the existing truck shop and to the west side of the former maintenance shop (see site map).
These locations are intended to be in the central outdoor area common to both building as
well as a former"sump"area that was once located here.
The shallow samples from each point will be collected from a depth of 0 to 1 feet and the
deeper samples will be from 1 to 2 feet below the surface. The sample pairs will be used to
gather information regarding the vertical distribution of any contaminants that may be
identified. The following table provides the expected sample identifiers:
Sample ID Sample Location Sample Analytes
ShopSSl-0-1 S of Shop,Point 1,Surface-] Foot S-VOCs,TEPH,CAM-17
ShopSSl-1-2 S of Shop,Point 1, 1 to 2 Feet S-VOCs,TEPH,CAM-17
ShopSS2-0-1 S of Shop,Point 2,Surface-1 Foot S-VOCs,TEPH,CAM-]7
ShopSS2-1-2 S of Shop,Point 2, 1 to 2 Feet S-VOCs,TEPH,CAM-17
ShopSS3-0-1 S of Shop,Point 3,Surface-1 Foot S-VOCs,TEPH,CAM-17
ShopSS3-1-2 S of Shop,Point 3, 1 to 2 Feet S-VOCs,TEPH,CAM-17
ShopSS4-0-1 S of Shop,Point 4,Surface-1 Foot S-VOCs,TEPH,CAM-17
ShopSS4-1-2 S of Shop,Point 4, 1 to 2 Feet S-VOCs,TEPH,CAM-17
ShopSS5-0-1 S of Shop,Point 5,Surface-] Foot S-VOCs,TEPH,CAM-17
ShopSS5-1-2 S of Shop,Point 5, 1 to 2 Feet S-VOCs,TEPH,CAM-17
ShopSS6-0-1 S of Shop,Point 6,Surface-1 Foot S-VOCs,TEPH,CAM-17
ShopSS6-1-2 S of Shop,Point 6, 1 to 2 Feet S-VOCs,TEPH,CAM-17
S-VOC=Semi-Volatile Organic Compounds
TEPH=Total Extractable Diesel and Oil Range Hydrocarbons
CAM-17=17 Priority Contaminant Heavy Metals
Shallow Soil Screening Samples
Most of the 44-acre site is open land. There is no particular reason to suspect the area is at
elevated risk to have been impacted by hazardous release(s), however, shallow, screening-
level samples will be collected at a density of two sample points per acre. A square, half-
acre, grid pattern has been established over the site (Figure 4) and the lateral (E-W) grid
spaces will be labeled with letters (A to M) and the vertical grid spaces (N-S) will be labeled
with numbers (1 to 8). Their respective grid coordinates along with the depth of the sample
will then identify the various sample points. Sample site that fall on the footprints of existing
buildings or rail spurs will not be used. Similarly sites that fall within the fill spreading area
will not be sampled because provisions are described elsewhere to sample this area. With the
excluded sample sites, a total of 58 screening sample sites (116 total samples) have been
designated.
