The two McCormick and Baxter parcels, while a part of the
Superfund investigation may also be included in the redevelopment project. The owner of
the Culhane property has declined an invitation to join the redevelopment project group at
this time, but it may become part of it depending on actions being pursued by the City of
Stockton.
This part of Stockton is adjacent to the south shore of the Stockton Deepwater Ship Channel.
The area has traditionally been in industrial use and this use continues to this time, although
much of the area is currently vacant. Businesses currently on the site include a frozen food
storage facility, a truck towing service, and a fruit packing company. Stockton has, however,
designated the area for redevelopment for use as a mixed commercial and medium density
residential area. (See the site maps for location and graphical details.)
1.2 Site Background
The site background setting and physical description are summarized in the previously
submitted Initial Assessment dated November 9, 2007.
1.3 Site Status
The Initial Assessment identified a number of past uses of the site that hold potential to have
left residual contamination in the soil or groundwater. The DTSC staff have reviewed a draft
of the initial assessment, and in a meeting on October 25, 2007, and informally agreed with
the general scope of work set forth in this Sampling Plan.
2937 Veneman Avenue, Suite B240 Geo-Phase Environmental Inc.
