6.0 AIR MONITORING REQUIREMENTS
Due to the types and concentrations of contaminants known to exits at this site,a Photoionization detector
(PID)will be used to monitor airborne chemical concentrations during the CPT sampling.
The sampling crew will donn half-face,negative pressure air purifying respirators(APR)if breathing
zone total hydrocarbon concentrations exceed 10 ppm(greater than background)during sampling.
Work will halt if total hydrocarbon exceed 100 ppm in the breathing zone. The Radian Health and Safety
Contact will be notified and consulted prior to continuing work.
7.0 PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT
Standard Work Attire:
To be worn during all field work:
- Hard hat;
- Safety Glasses with side shields;
- Sturdy work pant and shirt;and
- Steel-toed safety boots.
Upgraded Work Attire:
To be worn during sampling activities:
Standard Work Attire plus:
Chemical resistant gloves;and
Respiratory protection(APR w/Organic Vapor Cartridges)as
determined by the results of the real-time air monitoring.
Tyvek(coated)will be worn if a significant splash hazard exists.
8.0 DECONTAMINATION REQUIREMENTS
Contamination of personnel and equipment will be minimal. Sampling equipment that becomes
contaminated will be cleaned using water and laboratory grade detergent. Contaminated PPE(gloves and
coveralls)will be disposed of as general trash.
10.0 SHIPPING
The samples will be shipped to the analytical laboratory using typical procedures for environmental
samples.
11.0 Section Deleted
3575 Welty Road,Vemalis California February 1997
Health and Safty Plan
