G
GENESIS ENGINEERING&REDEVELOPMENT
3.4 Task 4—Monitoring Well Sampling and Analysis
Groundwater samples will be collected from the newly-installed monitoring wells, as well as
piezometers P-1 and P-2. The monitoring well data will be used to monitor the lateral extent
of groundwater impacts, and the piezometer data will be used to determine vertical extent of
impacts. Groundwater sampling procedures are outlined in the Sampling and Analysis Plan.
Groundwater samples will be sent to an analytical laboratory and analyzed for the following
constituents:
• Bicarbonate • Calcium
• Chloride • Potassium
• Sodium • Sulfate
• Total Dissolved Solids • Electrical Conductivity
• Volatile Organic Compounds • TPHg
• TPHd • Oil and Grease
The samples for the inorganic constituents will be filtered through a 45 micron filter by the
analytical laboratory.
3.5 Task 5—Statistical Analysis of Background Water Quality Data
The upper threshold limit(UTL)method will be used for statistical analysis of the
groundwater data. The purpose of this approach is to define a concentration range from
background water quality data, within which a large proportion of the monitoring
observations should fall within a high probability. Consistent with U.S. Environmental
Protection Agency and State recommendations, a 95 percent coverage and 95 percent
tolerance coefficient will be used for statistical analysis. The upper 95 percent tolerance
limit will contain at least 95 percent of the distribution of observations from background well
data.
3.6 Task 6—Disposal of Investigation Derived Waste
Investigation Derived Waste ("IDW")generated during this investigation will include drill
cuttings, decontamination rinsate, and well development water. IDW will be placed in
Department of Transportation approved 55-gallon drums and temporarily stored at the Site,
pending waste profiling and manifesting. IDW will be transported off-site and disposed at an
approved facility.
William DePaoli Property 5 of 7
Additional Groundwater Investigation Work Plan
June 2009
