Based on our review, we find the report complies with Waste
Discharge Requirements Order No. 96-139.
We note your comments on further investigating the source of increased levels of constituents of concern
in MW-4 downgradient from the water treatment ponds at the migrant farm labor camp. During our last
inspection,we noted a groundwater well head. I recommend that water quality be gathered from this
well, as well as drilling logs, screened interval and any other pertinent information as part of your
investigation. We appreciate your efforts in this regard.
We also note that chloride increases in groundwater are also occurring in upgradient well MW-1. We
recommend that your investigation include farm practices using herbicides and pesticides on grape
vineyards. Also, sources of irrigation wells that may be using groundwater from different aquifers that
may have naturally higher chloride than the aquifer monitored at Harney Lane. We look forward to
seeing the results of your research regarding this area of concern.
If you have any questions, please contact me at 916-464-4737.
A.
