No Further Action Required Deterrr on - 2 - 8 June 2010
Vernalis Offsite
Based on the characterization findings combined with SAIC's risk screening evaluation,
documentation provides the appropriate technical data and rationale to support an NFAR
determination for the Site.
On 3 March 2010, Central Valley Water Board staff notified owner(s) of properties determined
to overlie the affected area(s) and/or owner(s) of properties within a 200-foot radius of the
approximate boundary of the affected groundwater, by certified mail of Chevron's 14 August
2009 request for NFAR determination. No comments were received during the 30-day
comment period.
Provided the information submitted to this agency was accurate and representative, no further
action is needed at the above-referenced Site. If existing, additional, or previously unidentified
chemical constituents confirmed to be associated with the former pump station/crude oil
pipelines at the Site causes or threatens to cause pollution or nuisance or are found to pose a
threat to public health or water quality, then: 1) nothing in this determination is intended or
shall be construed to limit or preclude the Central Valley Water Board or any other agency
from taking enforcement action, and 2) this letter does not relieve Chevron of any
responsibilities mandated under the California Health and Safety Code or the California Water
Code.
If you have any questions, please contact Dean Hubbard at (559) 445-5179.
Pamela C.
