i
GEOMATRIX
east comer of the Arcos property, conveying flows to the heater house and exiting to the north
across the Bellini property.
Site history from an environmental site assessment(ESA)previously conducted at the
35500 Welty Road property (currently the Bellini property) (Geological Technics, 1995) is
l summarized below. The 35500 Welty Road property was sold to A. R. Rennie after 1935.
A. R. Rennie sold easement rights to the Pacific Gas and Electric Company for the installation
of a natural gas pipeline along the southern and western portions of the property. There was no
information indicating whether the pipeline was installed. In 1947, the ownership of the
35500 Welty Road property reportedly was transferred to the El Solyo Ranch Company who
established a work camp, which later burned down in about 1951. The property reportedly has
been vacant since then. After the El Solyo Ranch Company, the property was owned by
1 Dale Brinkman, Robert Roberts, and subsequently the Bellinis. A nursery operation reportedly
J was located within the 35500 Welty Road property for a short period of time. During the site
} reconnaissance of the 1995 ESA, a removed underground storage tank reportedly was observed
} on the"property to the south"; however, it was not evident where the tank had originated.
1.2 SITE SETTING AND VICINITY USE
111 The Bellini property is a triangular shaped, 5.73-acre vacant property. The Arcos property is
L irregularly shaped and located immediately to the south of the Bellini property. The Arcos
property is currently utilized as a storage facility for equipment and materials and contains a
residence and an on-site office.
The site is located on Welty Road in a rural area used for light industrial/agricultural activities.
The site is bounded to the northeast by the Union Pacific (formerly Southern Pacific)railroad
right-of-way and State Highway 33 (Figure 2). A Kinder Morgan Energy Partners,L.P.,
t high-pressure petroleum-product pipeline that reportedly transports gasoline, jet fuel, and diesel
Iis located along and outside of the northeastern site boundary within the Union Pacific right-of-
way. According to the ESA(Geological Technics, 1995), the product pipeline was installed
approximately 4 to 5 feet below ground surface(bgs) in about 1985, is constructed of 1/a-inch
wrapped steel, and was under the control of a subsidiary of Southern Pacific Pipeline Company.
- Properties to the east and west are primarily used for agricultural purposes with some limited
residential use. Light industrial properties and farms are located to the south of the site. The
property located immediately southeast of the Arcos property was a former Tidewater
Associated Oil Company(TAOC) (predecessor to Texaco and now ChevronTexaco)pump
[APROJEC15000s15011.00015011-03.dm 2
