<br /> Field evidence of petroleum hydrocarbons in soil (i.e., petroleum odor, PID readings,and/or
<br /> j soil discoloration) was observed at depths of approximately:
<br /> J • 38 to at least 44 feet bgs in ASB-1
<br /> 1 • 7 to at least 43 feet bgs in ASB-2
<br /> • 8 to at least 40 feet bgs in ASB-4
<br /> The chemical data from the soil samples were generally consistent with field observations.
<br /> TPHc was detected in the soil samples collected at the following locations:
<br /> -� 55 mg/kg at 43.5 feet bgs in ASB-1
<br /> • 17,000 mg/kg at 29 feet bgs in ASB-2
<br /> • 14,000 mg/kg at 40 feet bgs in ASB-4
<br /> TPHc was not detected in the other borings (Table 6).
<br /> One or more BTEX constituents was detected in the soil samples collected from ASB-1,
<br /> ASB-2, ASB-4, and ASB-10 at depths of 1,29, 10.5, and 1 foot bgs,respectively, at
<br /> concentrations ranging from 0.014 to 2.1 mg/kg(Table 6).
<br /> PAHs were detected at various depths in the soil samples collected from ASB-1 (1 and
<br /> 1 43.5 feet bgs),ASB-2 (1 and 29 feet bgs), ASB-4(5, 10.5, and 40 feet bgs), and ASB-7 (1 foot
<br /> } bgs). The detected PAHs included acenaphthene, benzo(a)anthracene, benzo(a)pyrene,
<br /> benzo(b)fluoranthene, benzo(g,h,i)perylene, benzo(k)fluoranthene, chrysene,
<br /> ldibenzo(a,h)anthracene, fluoranthene, fluorene, naphthalene, phenanthrene, and/or pyrene
<br /> (Table 7). In general, concentrations of the detected PAHs were less than 1 mg/kg, with the
<br /> 1 exception of some PAHs present in the samples collected from ASB-2 and ASB-4.
<br /> Concentrations of the detected PAHs in the samples collected from 29 feet bgs in ASB-2 and
<br /> from 10.5 and 40 feet bgs at ASB-4 ranged from 0.057 to 53 mg/kg. PAHs were not detected
<br /> ?. in the other samples.
<br /> Shallow soil samples collected from about 1, 5, and/or 10 feet bgs at ASB-3, ASB-7,ASB-8,
<br /> and ASB-11 were analyzed for CAM 17 metals (Table 8). Various metals, including arsenic,
<br /> barium, cobalt, chromium, copper, nickel,lead, vanadium, and zinc, were detected in these
<br /> samples. Beryllium and mercury were also detected in the 1 and 5 foot bgs samples collected
<br /> at ASB-3, respectively. The concentrations of metals detected in the soil samples collected
