Data Usability Summary <br /> Surrogates <br /> All surrogates were within the required control limits with the following exceptions. The%R for <br /> 2-fluorobiphenyl, one of the surrogates used in the analysis for PAHs by SW8270C-SIM,was 117 percent <br /> in sample WFSMW-I-W-060816,which exceeds the upper control limit of 115 percent. This surrogate is <br /> used for the evaluation of dibenz(a,h)anthracene. Dibenz(a,h)anthracene was not detected in the sample, <br /> and no data were qualified. The%R of 2-fluorobiphenyl was 125 percent, also higher than the required <br /> control limit in the method blank. However, all other surrogates in the samples were within the required <br /> control limits so no data were qualified. The surrogate orthoterphenyl used in the analysis of TPHd was <br /> high in the MSD sample prepared from sample WFSMW-I-W-060816. No data were qualified because <br /> the MSD was used for quality control purposes and the spike recoveries were in control. <br /> Representativeness <br /> Representativeness was assessed through the evaluation of method blank samples,trip blank samples, <br /> equipment blank samples, chain-of-custody forms,preservation, and holding times. <br /> Method Blank Results <br /> TPHd were detected at 36 micrograms per liter(gg/L)in the method blank associated with these samples. <br /> TPHd were detected in two associated samples,WFSMW-I-W-060816 at 230 µg/L and its' field <br /> duplicate WFSMW-I-WD-060816 at 120gg/L. Sample results that are within 5 times the concentration <br /> of target analytes detected in method blanks are normally qualified"U"as non-detect to indicate the <br /> detections are not representative of field conditions. In this case,the TPHd result in the field duplicate <br /> sample was not qualified because the sample result was used for comparison to the parent sample. All <br /> other laboratory method blanks were free of contamination. <br /> Field QC Results <br /> One equipment rinsate blank and one trip blank were submitted with the samples. Phenanthrene was <br /> detected in the equipment rinsate sample QA-R-060816 at 0.011 µg/L. Phenanthrene was detected at <br /> 0.013 gg/L in sample WFSMW-I-W-060816 and field duplicate WFSMW-I-WD-060816. The presence <br /> of phenanthrene in the equipment rinsate and associated samples may indicate that the decontamination <br /> procedure was not adequately performed on August 16,2006. However, since the compound was <br /> detected at the same concentration in both the sample and field duplicate, and not detected in sample <br /> MW-5-W-060816 collected on the same day, it is not likely that contamination occurred. Phenanthrene <br /> in the equipment rinsate blank and associated samples were flagged"J' because the concentrations were <br /> between the laboratory MDLs and LOQs. <br /> Chain-Of-Custody Forms <br /> Sample analytical results were evaluated for agreement with the chain-of-custody form. Based on the <br /> evaluation, all samples were received at the lab in the appropriate containers and in good condition with <br /> the chain-of-custody form filled out properly. <br /> Preservation and Holding Times <br /> Samples were preserved in the field as appropriate,were received at the laboratory within the acceptance <br /> temperature criterion of 4+2 °C,and were prepared and analyzed within specified holding times. The <br /> sample preservations,when required by the analysis,were less than the acceptance pH limit of 2. <br /> Reporting Limits <br /> Data reported for this sampling event were reported with the laboratory MDLs. The MDL represents the <br /> lowest concentration point where an analyte can be positively identified,but the quantitation is an <br /> estimate. The LOQ is the lowest concentration of an analyte in a sample that the laboratory can report <br /> with precision and accuracy. Analytes that were reported between the MDL and LOQ for this data set <br /> were qualified"J"as estimates. <br />
