Phase IIA Environmentai bite Assessment Page 2
Former Karlson Trucking Property
Project No. 191.2
October 28, 1998
• A former retention pond which stored water sourced from a former truck
wash.
• A soil stockpile possibly containing oil impacted soil sourced from the truck
washing operation.
• An area of soil staining underneath the pole barn building formerly used for
equipment storage.
2.0 FIELD DATA COLLECTION PROCEDURES
2.1 Hand Auger Soil Borings
Hand auger soil borings were completed in three areas of the site and advanced
using a 3.25" O.D. soil recovery auger. Soil samples were collected in a 2"
diameter brass liner placed in a 6" long slide hammer driven sampler. Upon
reaching total depth in each boring, a final soil sample was collected and then
each boring which was completed to a depth greater than three feet below grade
was filled with cement grout.
The soil sample collection procedures for all of the soil samples collected are
described in Section 2.3, the site's geologic conditions are discussed in Section
3.1. and analytical results are included in Section 3.2.
2.1.1 Stockpile Soil Sampling
A large soil stockpile located on the western side of the Property was sampled on
October 8, 1998. A total of twenty shallow soil borings were completed into the
stockpile at the site, each to a total depth of three feet below ground surface.
Soil samples were collected from the base of each of these borings (see site map
for boring locations and section 3.0 for field observations and analytical data).
2.1.2 Shallow Soil Sampling-Pole Barn
On October 9, 1998 a total of ten shallow soil samples were collected through the
floor of the pole barn at the site. Hand augered soil borings were completed to a
total depth of six feet below grade in this area. Soil samples were collected from
the two and six foot intervals in each of these borings (see site map for boring
locations and section 3.0 for field observations and analytical data).
2937 Veneman Ave.,#B240 Geo-Phase Environmental Inc.
