Report-Monitoring Well Abandonment Page 2
Former Karlson Trucking
Project No. 191.2
August 6, 2002
Following the recommendations of Geo-Phase Environmental, on May 11,
2000 the RWQCB staff directed that a report be prepared to assess the
potential risks associated with leaving the residual hydrocarbon
contamination in-situ with no engineered corrective action. Pursuant to the
directive, the document entitled Report, Site Closure Risk Assessment,
Former Karlson Truckinff Property was submitted on July 23, 2001. The
report concluded that the residual diesel contamination was being reduced by
natural attenuation, and that no material health risk was posed by the small
residual contaminant mass. On June 13, 2002 the RWQCB staff issued a
letter of conditional closure of the site. The closure was conditioned on the
proper abandonment of the remaining 6 groundwater monitoring wells.
1.2 Scope of Work
The following work was completed during field activities associated with this
Scope of Work.
1. Obtain a permit to destroy to monitoring wells.
2. Properly abandon the six wells.
2937 Veneman Avenue, Suite B240 Geo-Phase Environmental Inc.
