Site Characterization- Second Event Page 10
Former Karlson Trucking Facility
Project No. 191.2
April 27, 2000
• 0.588 mg/1 at 24 feet below grade, and
• 0.133 mg/1 at 28 feet below grade.
Samples from Geo-Probe borings SB-11 and SB-12 contained non-detectable
levels of petroleum hydrocarbons.
Monitoring Wells
Low detectable levels of"diesel range" petroleum hydrocarbons were detected
in the water sample from MW-4 (17 mg/L), MW-6 (0.479 mg/L), and MW-7
(0.140).
A summary groundwater data table is attached in Appendix A.
A calculation of groundwater gradient was made from the groundwater
measurements made during the sampling event. The gradient calculated
using MW's 1, 3, & 7 has a slope of 0.0002 ft/ft and a bearing of N76.90W.
The depth to water for the site ranged between 9.56 and 8.47 feet below
ground surface. A summary depth to water data table and graphically
depicted groundwater gradient are included on Figure 2. The groundwater
sampling data sheets are included as Appendix E.
2.3 Waste Disposal &Well Destruction
A total of two drums of soil cuttings, one drum of decontamination water and
2 drums of purge/development water were generated during the completion of
the monitoring well construction/sampling event.
Monitoring Well MW-5 was destroyed coincident with the installation of MW-
6 & 7. The well box and annular seal were removed and the casing pressure
grouted with cement grout. The casing was then removed to approximately 3
feet below grade. The casing and sand pack pore volume were estimated to
be 2.3 cubic feet. Approximately 5 cubic feet of grout was actually installed
into the casing and filter pack.
2937 Veneman Avenue, Suite B240 Geo-Phase Environmental Inc.
