Work Plan—Soil Boring Installation Page 5
Russell Property
Project 191.2
December 13,2000
2.1.3 Groundwater Sample Collection & Analysis
Groundwater samples will be collected using the Geo-Probe's groundwater sampling device.
This consists of a four-foot long hollow rod fitted with a drive point, which is attached to the
end of the Geo-Probe stem. This rod is driven four feet into groundwater and retracted to
expose the stainless steel screen inside of the device.
Groundwater samples will be obtained by oscillating a clean dedicated section of Teflon
tubing inserted inside of the hollow stem of the Geo-Probe. This causes groundwater to rise
to the surface. Samples will be collected in 1-liter amber glass bottles. Each sample
container will then be labeled and placed into an ice chest chilled to 4°C to await transport to
the laboratory under chain of custody protocol.
It is anticipated that three groundwater samples will be collected from each boring as
described above. All of these samples will be submitted for analysis for diesel oil as follows:
• Total Extractable Petroleum Hydrocarbons (TEPH) by EPA method 8015(m)/3510
(water)
Compound TEPH
Detection Limit 50
Units I µg/L
2937 Veneman Avenue,Suite B240 Geo-Phase Environmental Inc.
