Work Plan-Monitoring Well Abandonment Page 2
Former Karlson Trucking
Project No. 191.2
2 July 2002
2.2 Pressure Grouting
The RWQCB staff have agreed that pressure grouting is an acceptable
method of well abanodonment, and the wells will be so abandoned. This
work will be performed by V&W Drilling (C-57 # 720904). The following
steps task will be performed to complete the well abandonment.
The locks and caps will be removed from each well.
V&W Drilling personnel will prepare Class G neat cement for use as grout in
pressure grouting the wells.
Each well will be sequentially fitted with a 2 inch pressure cap. Neat cement
was then pumped into each well using a pneumatically actuated cement
pump. Pumping will continued until a positive pressure of at least 5 pounds
per square inch is reached at each well head. The volume of grout pumped
will be monitored to verify that the casing is full and the grout gas squeezed
through the slots and into the gravel pack.
2.3 Finish Work
After each well is grouted, the casing will cut off below grade and the
remaining hole around each well head will be brought up to grade with
native soil.
3.0 REPORTING
A brief report documenting the well abandonment will be prepared. Copies
will be distributed to Mrs. Russell, the RWQCB, and the San Joaquin County
PHS-EHD.
2937 Veneman Avenue, Suite B240 Geo-Phase Environmental Inc.
