(AGE). The MWI Report provides the soil and
groundwater investigation results of the well installations conducted in April 2002 in preparation for the
groundwater extraction and soil vapor extraction (SVE) feasibility study. The Monitoring Report
provides the groundwater analytical results of the September 2002 quarterly groundwater monitoring
event.
The Monitoring Report states that all groundwater samples were analyzed in accordance with the
Regional Water Quality Control Board, Central Valley Region (Regional Board) guidance for
investigation of underground storage tanks. Groundwater samples were analyzed for total petroleum
hydrocarbons as diesel (TPH-d), as gasoline (TPH-g), as Stoddard solvent (TPH-ss), and motor oil
(TPH-mo); benzene-tolune-ethylbenzene-xylenes (BTEX); volatile organic compounds (VOCs); and
fuel oxygenates, including methyl tert-butyl ether(MtBE). Maximum groundwater concentrations for
September 2002 were: TPH-d(2,600 µg2), TPH-g (2,800 µg/L), TPH-ss (2,600 ltg/L), TPH-mo (1,700
µg/L), ethylbenzene (10 gg/L), xylenes (14µg/L), and VOCs (1,2-dichlorethane or 1,2-DCA, 30 µg/L).
The Monitoring Report states that the vertical and lateral extents of the 1,2-DCA groundwater plume
between the intermediate and deep zones have not been defined.
The Monitoring Report recommends:
• Continuing the quarterly groundwater monitoring,
• Continuing the lateral and vertical assessment of the 1,2-DCA plume utilizing depth discreet
sampling or placement of additional monitoring wells, and
California Environmental Protection Agency
QCI!Recycled Paper
