Stockton, San Joaquin County, dated 1 February 2002, and submitted
on your behalf by Advanced GeoEnvironmental, Inc. (AGE). The Work Plan proposes additional soil
and groundwater investigations, and a pilot study that will evaluate three remedial alternatives:
groundwater extraction, soil vapor extraction, and natural attenuation. The Work Plan describes the
drilling, sampling, and installation of soil borings for eleven groundwater monitoring wells, one
groundwater extraction well, and ten soil vapor extraction (SVE) wells.
Soil and groundwater samples will be analyzed for: .
• total petroleum hydrocarbons (TPH) as diesel (TPH-d), gasoline (TPH-g), Stoddard Solvent
(TPH-ss), and motor oil (TPH-mo) by EPA Method 8015 Modified,
• benzene, toluene, ethylbenzene, and xylenes (B-T-E-X) by EPA Method 8020,
• volatile organic compounds (VOCs), including oxygenates by EPA Method 8260,
• hydrocarbon-degrading bacteria by Method SM9215B,
• pH (EPA Method 150.1),
• potassium, nitrogen, orthophosphate (total), and ammonium by EPA Method 300,
• metals (EPA Method 6000),
• pesticides (EPA Method 8080), and
• caustic materials (salts).
Soil samples will also be analyzed for:
• specific gravity(ASTM Method D854),
• porosity(ASTM Method D5084),
• and total organic carbon (ASTM Method D2974).
Soil vapor samples will be analyzed for: TPH-d,TPH-g,TPH-ss, TPH-mo, B-T-E-X, and VOCs (no
method specified for VOCs).
California Environmental Protection Agency
(a Recycled Paper
