The manifests with weight master certificates are attached in
Appendix B.
3.5. MONITORING WELL ABANDONMENT
The three two-inch diameter ground water monitoring wells (MW -1 through MW -3) were abandoned
under SJCEHD permit on 25 July 2003. A copy of the permit is included as Appendix C.
Each well cover box was removed and the well was over-drilled to a depth of approximately 3 feet
bsg utilizing a truck -mounted drill rig equipped with 12 -inch diameter hollow stem augers. Each well
was then pressure -grouted; pressure (15-20 psi) was be applied to each well for approximately three
minutes to ensure grout penetration into the filter pack. The top three feet will then be backfilled
with neat cement.
The grout mixture for all wells consisted of Type I/H portland neat cement and not more than
6 gallons of water per 94 -pound sack of cement.
4.0. FINDINGS
Soil description was determined from field data collected on 25 July 2003. The impact of the
unauthorized petroleum hydrocarbon release on soil was quantified by laboratory analysis of soil
samples collected on 25 July 2003. The volume ofpetroleum hydrocarbons removed was calculated
from field data.
4.1. STRATIGRAPHY
Sand with a light -brown to medium brown color was encountered in the excavated area from surface
grade to the floor of the excavation. A petroleum hydrocarbon -like odor was, noted in soil samples
collected from the northern and southern sidewalls.
4.2. ANALYTICAL RESULTS FOR SOIL SAMPLES
A total of six discrete soil samples from the excavation were analyzed for TPH-hf and MTBE/BTEX
compounds by EPA Methods 8015 Modified and 8021, respectively.
Advanced GeoEnvironmental, Inc.
