' ■ KLEINFELDER
7 ASSUMPTIONS
This revised workplan is based on the following assumptions:
• This revised workplan has been prepared as a limited evaluation of the soil and
groundwater at the site and is based upon the ESA report conclusions and
recommendations prepared by Kleinfelder (dated April 1, 2003), and the
RWQCB's requirement to supply a workplan to address the characterization of
soil and groundwater at the site (letter dated April 26, 2002). The ESA was an
interim step in developing this workplan as presented to the client and the
RWQCB in Kleinfelder's proposal dated January 15, 2003.
• Kleinfelder assumes it will be contracted for the work in a timely fashion.
• Kleinfelder will be supplied with written authorization from the property owner to
obtain access to the site to install and sample the wells.
• Adequate work space and access will be provided.
• Drilling/sampling derived wastes will be generated during the proposed
investigation. Excess drilling returns will be contained in labeled DOT-approved
55-gallon drums and left on site. Water generated during well
development/purging/sampling and water derived from equipment
decontamination will be contained in DOT-approved 55-gallon drums and will be
left on site. Disposal of all drilling/sampling derived wastes is the responsibility
of Ms. Schmiedt.
• Ms. Schmiedt should be aware that penetrating the site's surface is inherently
risky. It is impossible to determine with certainty the precise location of all
structures (such as septic system tanks or leach fields) which may be buried in the
ground. Kleinfelder's fee is not adequate to compensate for both the performance
of the services and the assumption of risk of damage to such structures. If the
active septic system or utilities on site are damaged by our field activities, repairs
will be necessary in order to provide continued service. Repairs are not included
in Kleinfelder's fees.
• Underground Services Alert (USA) at 1-800-642-2444 provides a partial location
service free of charge for major utility lines. It is important that the client
understand that subsurface structures (such as the septic systems, irrigation lines,
leach fields, et cetera) buried under private property will not be marked by the
public utility companies contacted by USA. Kleinfelder will require the drilling
subcontractor to contact USA.
27125.E01 /ST03R657 Page 13 of 15
Copyright 2003,Kleinfelder,Inc. May 23,2003
