L & M OPERABLE UNIT- FIRST QUARTER 2012 SITE STATUS, REMEDIAL SUMMARY,
AND GROUNDWATER MONITORING REPORT
Status of Remediation Activities
April 30, 2012
I:\Tidewater\TW Stockton (P2A)\QMRs\2012\1Q12\1Q12 QSSR QRSR QMR Stockton_FINAL.doc 3.2
3.2 L&M OU AND APARTMENT SOIL VAPOR EXTRACTION SYSTEMS
3.2.1 L&M OU and Apartment Soil Vapor Extraction Systems Summary
The L&M OU SVE (SVE) and Apartment SVE (ASVE) systems have run near continuously
since May 31, 2007. The SVE system is comprised of horizontal vapor wells: SVE-1 through
SVE-11, a 100-gallon liquid/vapor separator, and a Solleco 500 cfm vapor extraction system
with a Roots URAI 59 20-hp positive displacement blower. The ASVE system is comprised of
horizontal wells (ASVE-1 through ASVE-6), a 100-gallon liquid/vapor separator, and a Solleco
250 cubic feet per minute (cfm) vapor extraction system with a Roots URAI 56 10-hp positive
displacement blower. Vapor from both the SVE and the ASVE systems is abated with a
750 scfm thermal oxidizer. Since May 31, 2007 the 750 scfm SVE and ASVE vapor abatement
system has been operated under SJVAPCD permit number N-4878-2-0.
3.2.2 L&M OU and Apartment Soil Vapor Extraction Systems Operational Data – 1Q12
During 1Q12 the SVE system was approximately 100% operational (92 out of 92 days) and the
ASVE system was approximately 81% operational (74 out of 92 days). The ASVE system
experienced a period of downtime due to the failure of a transfer pump. The transfer pump and
associated plumbing was replaced on February 27, 2012.
3.2.3 L&M OU Soil Vapor Extraction System Analytical Data – 1Q12
During 1Q12 (December 15, 2011 through March 16, 2012) the SVE system removed
approximately 55.4 lbs. (9.1 gallons) of TPHg, 0.050 lbs. (0.007 gallons) of benzene, and 0.11
lbs. (0.02 gallons) of MtBE from the subsurface. To date the SVE system has removed
approximately 4,335 lbs. (711 gallons) of TPHg, 5.17 lbs. (0.72 gallons) of TPHd, 2.96 lbs. (0.40
gallons) of benzene, and 5.96 lbs. (0.96 gallons) of MtBE from soil vapor beneath the L&M OU.
Historical SVE system operations and analytical data are presented in Tables 21 through 24.
3.2.4 Apartment Soil Vapor Extraction System Analytical Data – 1Q12
During 1Q12 (December 15, 2011 through March 16, 2012) the ASVE system removed
approximately 15.3 lbs. (2.5 gallons) of TPHg, 0.125 lbs. (0.017 gallons) of benzene, and
0.28 lbs. (0.05 gallons) of MtBE from the subsurface. To date the ASVE system has removed
approximately 2,659.7 lbs. (436.0 gallons) of TPHg, 10.19 lbs. (1.42 gallons) of TPHd,
2.643 lbs. (0.360 gallons) of benzene, and 5.55 lbs. (0.90 gallons) of MtBE from soil vapor
beneath the Delta View Apartments. Historical ASVE system operations and analytical data are
presented in Tables 18 through 20.
