Robert Traylor
From: Robert Traylor [roberttraylor@cox.net]
Sent: Thursday, May 31, 2007 1:58 PM
To: 'Ava Kenney'
Cc: 'John Luebberke'; 'wbrown@daley-heft.com '; 'Kitty Walker'
Subject: RE: Children's Museum VCA
Ava,
The Children's Museum soil sampling for lead and soil gas sampling for VOCs was conditionally approved by
DTSC in their letter dated 13 February 2007 (attached). DTSC's two conditions were preparation of a figure
showing soil sample collection locations and notification to DTSC of field data collection (DTSC has indicated
they might want to visit during sampling). GSE is preparing this figure and after finalization, will send to DTSC
(anticipate a draft in the next week or so). The current schedule will be driven by availability of the soil gas
mobile laboratory and linking this field program with the soil excavation at MA OU (to be cost effective); this
currently scheduled for the later half of June.
I have also attached (1) the "Project Background Information" (i.e. work plan) sent to DTSC and approved in the
13 February letter, and (2) HERD's memorandum to Jerry Lile describing HERD's concerns specific to arsenic
(location B12-3) and lead (locations B10-3 and B12-3).
The estimated cost for the soil gas sampling is $15,000 (see attached email file) and $2,500 for the additional
soil sampling, if performed in conjunction with the MA excavation.
Best regards, Rob
From: Kitty Walker [mailto:Kitty.Walker@ci.stockton.ca.us]
Sent: Wednesday, May 23, 2007 3:36 PM
To: Ava Kenney; Robert Traylor; JLile@dtsc.ca.gov
Cc: John Luebberke; wbrown@daley-heft.com
Subject: Children's Museum VCA
Got a long voice mail from Duncan Austin today. He says that now that he understands what is going on, it
would be fine to complete this VCA under DTSC oversight, and then just wrap in the results into the
bigger UPPR oversight agreement with Regional Board at the appropriate juncture.
So, in light of this, Rob will need to speak with Jerry about the additional work that needs to be completed: the
additional confirmation soil tests asked by Dave Barry, and the soil gas vapor testing program around the
museum. I think this has all been prepared, but was put on hold 2-3 months ago.
Rob & Jerry - after you have a chance to talk, please get back to Ava with scope, money, and timing.
Than ks!
